Kenyan lawmakers are meeting Thursday to discuss whether to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, just two months before the trial of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
A withdrawal would not interrupt any trials already scheduled.
Kenya's president and deputy president, William Ruto, are due to go on trial for crimes against humanity in connection with a crackdown on thousands of post-election protesters following the 2008 elections
Charges include rape and targeting more than a thousand people.
Both Mr. Kenyatta and Ruto have denied the charges.
