Brazil and Kenya have signed a series of trade agreements, one of which has Brazil offering to help Kenya enhance its biodiesel production.
Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva attended the signing of the five agreements Tuesday in Nairobi.
Mr. Kibaki told reporters that his country is especially interested in learning advanced biodiesel technology from Brazil, which is the world's leading ethanol exporter.
Mr. Kibaki said his country stands to gain from Brazil's knowledge in the field as Kenya seeks to become more efficient in its energy sector.
Other agreements signed Tuesday were in the areas of education, agriculture and investment.
The Brazilian leader arrived in Kenya Monday as a part of a six-nation tour of Africa that has already taken him to Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea.
Mr. da Silva will next head to Tanzania and Zambia before ending his tour in South Africa.
