Israeli forces on Sunday killed four suspected militants whom it says were caught trying to plant a bomb in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Israeli military officials say they launched an airstrike on the militants near the town of Majdal Shams, close to the Israeli-Syrian border.
The officials say the four were targeting Israeli troops.
Earlier Sunday, Syrian fighter jets struck a market in the town of Darkush, near the Turkish border. The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the government airstrikes killed at least 40 civilians.
A day earlier, Syrian jets bombarded the key northwestern city of Jisr al-Shughour after the al-Qaida affiliated Nusra Front seized it from Syrian forces.
The town was one of the government's last strongholds in Idlib province after the rebels captured the provincial capital of Idlib city a month ago.
The observatory said at least 27 people were killed in Jisr al-Shughour, including 20 rebel fighters.
