IS Militants Trap Mosul Residents as Human Shields

As Iraqi forces continue to battle for Mosul’s Old and New City neighborhoods, soldiers say Islamic State resistance is fierce, and many areas are only accessible on foot. Despite the dire circumstances inside these crowded neighborhoods, militants are forcing families to stay in their homes, and fleeing civilians say entire families are being slaughtered as they run.
