Iraqi forces last week retook control of the area where the destroyed historic Al-Nuri mosque is located, in the Old city of Mosul, where three years ago the head of the Islamic State group declared the establishment of a caliphate. Residents are fleeing the area, heading for refugee camps, as Iraqi forces continue to battle Islamic State militants in the city.
