A multi-story residential building has collapsed in Mumbai, India, killing at least six people and trapping more than two dozen others in the wreckage.
Authorities say another nine people were injured in the disaster, which occurred Tuesday in the suburb of Ghatkopar. Several people have been rescued.
Also on Tuesday, at least two people were killed when a portion of a 100-year-old building collapsed in the city of Kolkata in eastern India. Many more were feared trapped.
Building collapses are common in India, as contractors take advantage of lax regulations by using substandard materials or add unauthorized extra floors.
