The United Nations atomic watchdog says Iran continues to keep its side of the 2015 nuclear agreement, even as new U.S. sanctions raise concerns about whether the deal can survive.
The assessment was published Monday in a quarterly report by the International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA.
Last week, the United States re-imposed sanctions on Iran that had been lifted as part of the nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers.
The measures bring back bans on the purchase of Iranian oil, which is a major part of the country's economy.
U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this year unilaterally pulled out of the nuclear agreement, saying it did not impose strict enough standards on Iran.
European nations oppose Trump’s decision and are trying to salvage the deal. But that will become trickier, as U.S. sanctions take effect.
