The French president has began a three-day visit to India.
Francois Hollande arrived in the northern city of Chandigarh Sunday, where he was greeted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chandigarh was designed in the 1950s by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier.
Hollande is traveling with a large delegation of government officials and corporate leaders.
Modi is expected to discuss a multi-billion dollar deal with Hollande to buy combat airplanes from France.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss anti-terrorism strategies as both countries have recently suffered terrorist attacks.
Hollande will travel to the Indian capital later Sunday where he will hold talks with Indian leaders on Monday.
The French leader will be the guest of honor Tuesday at India’s Republic Day parade, celebrating the 66 years since the country adopted its constitution.
