Restoration continues of the Irbil castle, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site list recently. As the restoration work began, families who used to live inside the castle walls were resettled to other locations.

Most parts of the castle are closed due to renovations. However, the economic crisis in the country has caused delays. Some small-scale museums inside the castle that are still open to visitors, in Irbil, Iraq.
