Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants are one win away from advancing to the World Series after edging the visiting Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 Wednesday in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series.
The game was tied 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Giants batter Juan Uribe hit a sacrifice fly ball off Phillies reliever Roy Oswalt to drive in teammate Aubrey Huff for the winning run. San Francisco now holds a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series over the reigning N.L. champion Phillies.
The Giants can clinch the series with a gave five victory on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the New York Yankees avoided elimination from the American League Championship Series by posting a 7-2 rout over the visiting Texas Rangers. Nick Swisher and Robinson Cano hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning while the Yankees already had a 3-0 lead. Pitcher C.C. Sabathia gave up just two runs over six innings of work for the win.
The series moves to Arlington, Texas, for Game 6 on Friday, with the Rangers holding a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series over the reigning A.L. and World Series champion Yankees.
