Afghan Leader Maps Path Forward to US Lawmakers
One day after President Barack Obama announced a delay in the drawdown of American troops in Afghanistan, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani mapped out a hopeful vision for his country in an address to a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress. As VOA’s Michael Bowman reports, Ghani expressed deep gratitude for U.S. sacrifices made in Afghanistan, and said his nation is eager to build a prosperous, secure, and self-reliant future.
