German authorities have raised the death toll from a stampede at a music festival held in the western city of Duisburg last week to 21.
Authorities said a 25-year-old woman died from injuries early Wednesday. The dead included music fans from Bosnia and China. More than 500 people were injured in the stampede.
Findings from a preliminary investigation into the panic at the Love Parade festival are expected to be released Wednesday.
Witnesses have said the event got too crowded and police subsequently closed off one end of a tunnel that served as the only entrance to the festival grounds.
Officials have not said who is being targeted in their probe. The suspects could face charges of negligent homicide.
Duisburg Mayor Adolf Sauerland is resisting demands that he resign. City officials say they warned festival organizers that the city is too small to host an event that attracts more than 1 million people.
Chief Love Parade organizer Ranier Schaller says the festival will never be held again out of respect for the dead.
The first Love Parade was held in Berlin in 1989 and it had become one of Europe's largest music festivals.
