In 2018, a wildfire, caused by electrical transmission lines, destroyed approximately 90% of the northern California town of Paradise. The fire, one of the worst wildfires this century in the United States, started on November 8, 2018. The Camp Fire killed 85 people and burned more than 16,000 homes in its path.
