Voters casting ballots in Gabon's legislative elections Saturday are expected to keep President Ali Bongo's ruling party in the majority.
The western African country's Democratic Party and its backers hold 98 of the 120 seats in parliament and they are not expected to lose much ground against limited opposition.
The French News Agency quoted prominent opposition leader Andre Mba Obame as saying that turnout would be low after a call for a boycott was issued in the oil-rich nation.
The legislative vote is the first since Mr. Bongo's father died two years ago.
Omar Bongo ruled Gabon for 41 years.
