The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) congratulated all Syrians on the fall of President Bashar al-Assad as the result of the Syrian people's "unwavering commitment to freedom, dignity and equality despite years of oppression and persecution". The Kurdish-led group, which is the main U.S. ally in the fight against IS in Syria, pledged it would continue its efforts to establish a "democratic and pluralistic" government that guarantees "equality, justice and respect" for all Syrian citizens.
