Summer in France: Bag Checks and Stepped-up Security

Security forces have been on high alert this summer in France, following the wave of terror attacks over the last year-and-a-half, including July’s truck attack in the city of Nice. Hundreds were out patrolling with sniffer dogs at the pilgrimage site Lourdes this week, as Roman Catholics gathered to celebrate Assumption. The extra controls and patrols are the new normal in France. Concerts, flea markets, fireworks and festivals have been cancelled or scaled back this summer, and many tourists are staying away. For VOA, Lisa Bryant takes a look at the fallout in Paris.
