Nelson Mandela's foundation is going ahead with plans to mark his 95th birthday next month, despite his ongoing hospital stay.
The foundation said that on July 18, the former South African president's birthday, charities, businesses and individuals will take part in a day of service called the Mandela Day campaign.
Participants are being asked to do good deeds for 67 minutes to mark Mandela's 67 years of activism and public work. Some of the suggested actions include volunteering at schools, visiting people at old age homes, and feeding those in need.
The 94-year-old Mandela remains in a Pretoria hospital where he has spent the past 12 days being treated for a lung infection.
His daughter said Monday that the anti-apartheid icon is "doing very well," but there has been no word on when he might be released.
Mandela has a history of lung problems dating back to the tuberculosis he contracted during his 27-year imprisonment under South Africa's apartheid system. He was released in 1990, and four years later was elected president in the country's first democratic polls.
