Former Irish Prime Minister Garret Fitzgerald has died in Dublin at the age of 85.
Fitzgerald served twice as prime minister. He is credited with organizing the framework for peace in Northern Ireland while improving Irish-British relations.
He also served as Ireland's foreign minister before retiring from politics in 1992.
Fitzgerald died one day after Britain's Queen Elizabeth during a visit to Dublin offered her deep sympathy to all those who have suffered as a consequence of Ireland and Britain's troubled past.
