Military officials say five NATO soldiers died Sunday in separate incidents in Afghanistan.
According to a statement, a vehicle accident killed three NATO soldiers in southern Afghanistan. NATO said a makeshift bomb killed another service member in southern Afghanistan, and a fifth soldier died in an insurgent attack in the eastern part of the country.
Also on Sunday, Afghan officials say a roadside bomb attack in southern Afghanistan killed a police officer and two civilians.
Authorities say the bomb hit a police vehicle and two civilian cars in the Panjwai district of Kandahar.
Officials say the blast wounded at least three people.
Kandahar is the focus of a major military push starting in the next few months to drive the Taliban out of their southern strongholds.
Elsewhere, NATO says coalition forces killed a Taliban commander and other insurgents in western Farah province.
In the eastern region, an Afghan combined force captured a Haqqani explosives cell leader Saturday night in Khost province.
