Like African Americans and other people of color in the United States, Navajos are suffering a disproportionately high rate of COVID-19 fatalities, running at nearly twice the national per capita rate, according to Navajo Department of Health data. The disease caused by the coronavirus has exacerbated existing inequities within the Navajo Nation reservation.
