At least one is dead after clashes broke out between Egypt's military and protesters demonstrating against the removal of Mohamed Morsi from power. Thousands of Morsi supporters gathered outside Cairo's Rabea Al-Adaweya mosque, where Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie called on the military to free Morsi and reinstate him as president.

Meanwhile, Adly Mansour, appointed by the military as interim leader of Egypt, dissolved parliament, and the African Union suspended Egypt's membership, a decision it said will stand until Egypt restores a constitutional democracy. State TV also said that Adli Mansour, the constitutional court chief justice sworn in as head of state on Thursday, had appointed Mohamed Ahmed Farid as head of intelligence.
