Djokovic Wins Second Australian Open Tennis Title

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has won his second Australian Open men's title with a dominating 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Britain's Andy Murray in Melbourne. Djokovic won his first title at the Grand Slam event in 2008.

Djokovic's resounding victory Suanday also ended Murray's quest to become the first British man to lift a Grand Slam trophy in 75 years, since Fred Perry won the 1936 U.S. Open. It was Murray's second straight loss in the Australian Open finals, after falling to Roger Federer of Switzerland in 2010.

Djokovic, 23, played excellent tennis throughout the two-week tournament, with strong serves, looping lobs and pinpoint passing shots. He overcame the world number-two Federer in the semifinals to earn his place in the championship match, and says he could not have imagined the match going any better.

"This was a great match from the start to the last point," he said. "I did what I intended on doing tactically, what I talked with my coach [about] what I prepared for. Physically, I was very fit. I had two days between the semifinals and finals match, which was important at this stage of the tournament."

The loss was a bitter disappointment for Murray, who has lost all three Grand Slam finals he has played in. He previously lost to Federer in the finals of the 2008 U.S. Open and 2010 Australian Open.

On Saturday, Kim Clijsters of Belgium captured the women's Australian Open title with a three set (3-6 6-3 6-3) win over China's Li Na. Had Li won, it would have been the first Grand Slam title won by a Chinese player.
