LIVE BLOG: Clinton Becomes First Woman Nominated for President

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Michigan -- delegation leader says their state created the middle class -- casts 81 votes for Clinton and 66 votes for Sanders.

Minnesota -- birthplace of vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine, the home of the late singer Prince and home of Walter Mondale who put the first woman on a presidential ticket, vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro -- casts 47 votes for Sanders and 42 votes for Clinton.

Mississippi casts 33 votes for Clinton and seven for Sanders.
