The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Hillary Clinton: 1092
Bernie Sanders: 686
Needed to win: 2382
Kentucky, the home state of Muhammad Ali, the greatest heavyweight boxer in history, casts 33 votes for Clinton and 27 votes for Sanders.
Louisiana casts 45 votes for Hillary Clinton and 14 votes for Sanders. Makes mention of recent police shootings and deaths in the state, but stresses Louisiana is "one."
