update

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Singer Andra Day takes the stage, sings "Rise Up."

The last speaker is Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, “I would not have signed up for this. None of us would have. I am here today for my son, Trayvon Martin, who is in heaven. She urges people to get out and vote.

They leave the stage to chants of "Black Lives Matter."
