LIVE BLOG: Clinton Becomes First Woman Nominated for President

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Holder speaks to voting rights issues in the nation. He says Clinton will champion automatic voter enrollment. "You turn 18, you're registered to vote."

Crowd gives small cheer.

"The best way to demonstrate the right to vote is by exercising it," he adds.
