Echoing another speaker earlier tonight, Kaine says you can tell the character of someone in public life by looking to see if they have a passion, "one that began before they were in office, and that they have consistently held on to throughout their career. Hillary's passion is kids and families. Donald Trump has a passion, too: It's himself."
Kaine mocks Donald Trump, who liberally peppers his speeches with the phrase "believe me."
"So here's the question. Do you really believe him? Donald Trump's whole career says you better not," Kaine says.
As Kaine builds a case that Trump is not trustworthy, he says you cannot believe one word out of Trump's mouth. The crowd begins to chant, "Not one word!"
