Scientist Who Helped Identify Ebola in 1976 Optimistic On Current Outbreak
The Ebola virus was identified in the 1970s in a tiny village in the Democratic Republic of Congo - where an intrepid team of researchers ventured to learn more. Among them was United States-born David Heymann, now a Professor of Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. VOA’s Henry Ridgwell spoke to the professor about his career, and his thoughts on the current Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
