Zika Efforts Focus on Surveillance, Response and Research

The World Health Organization (WHO) says the best way to avoid infection with Zika virus is to prevent mosquito bites, as it may take some time to develop a vaccine. Health officials from the United States, Brazil and other affected countries told members of the United Nation's Economic and Social Council on Tuesday that worldwide efforts are focused on surveillance, response and research.
