The Colombia government has announced it killed as least 33 rebels in a bombing raid on a secluded base of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC rebels.
The Colombian defense department released aerial, night-vision video taken early Wednesday as the operation was carried out in northeastern Arauca state, near Venezuela.
Colombian Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon told reporters the raid was coordinated between the army and the national police, calling it one of the biggest blows to the FARC in the last five years.
The minister said several of other FARC rebels were killed and captured between Tuesday and Wednesday through operations in the region.
The military says an estimated 600 to 700 members of the FARC and the smaller National Liberation Army, or ELN, operate in the area.
