The Philippine military says 13 people are dead after a month of fighting between rival Muslim rebel groups on a troubled southern island.
The clash, related to a long-running land feud on Mindanao, pits the Moro National Liberation Front against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. Regional military spokesman Major Marlowe Patria says the dead came from both sides of the conflict.
Nine others have been wounded in the fighting, which began in early January. Hundreds of villagers have fled to other townships.
Muslim insurgents have been fighting for an independent homeland in the southern Philippines for decades. The MILF is a breakaway faction of the MNLF.
