FILE - Army Pfc. Chelsea Manning, then-Army Pfc. Bradley Manning, is escorted into a courthouse in Fort Meade, Maryland, Aug. 21, 2013, before a sentencing hearing in his court martial.

Convicted whistleblower Chelsea Manning has been found guilty of violating prison rules and will receive three weeks of recreational restrictions at the Kansas military prison where she is serving a 35-year sentence for leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks, her attorney said.

The transgender Army private was accused of having a copy of Vanity Fair magazine featuring former Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner, who is transitioning to life as a woman, on the cover and an expired tube of toothpaste, among other things.

The former intelligence analyst was convicted in 2013 of espionage for leaking more than 700,000 documents, videos, diplomatic cables and battlefield accounts to WikiLeaks.

The military said in a statement last week it is committed to "a fair and equitable process," and called such punishment "a common practice in correctional systems to hold prisoners accountable to facility rules."
