At least 37 people were killed in a series of car bombings across Iraq.
Police say the largest bomb exploded near a crowded market in the Shi'ite majority town of Khalis, killing 15 people. The town is located about 80 kilometers northeast of the capital, Baghdad.
A second attack killed 10 people at another market in the town of Al Zubair, located just southwest of Basra, according to police.
Meanwhile, in the capital, Baghdad, police say a car bomb exploded in the Hussainiya district of the northern outskirts of the city, killing 12 people, according to police and medical sources.
While no one has claimed responsibility for the blasts, the Islamic State has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks launched in an effort to destabilize the government.
