On The Scene: Burundi Tense a Day After Coup Attempt

In Bujumbura, sporadic gunfire could be heard from the direction of the ruling party headquarters, a day after a former army commander declared a coup against President Pierre Nkurunziza. Residents say the police and armed youths are keeping people away from the area, and may have entered into nearby residential neighborhoods, shooting at people – either coup supporters or other perceived threats.
