Burundi's ruling party has won the country's parliamentary elections.
The country's National Electoral Commission said Tuesday that the CNDD-FDD party won 77 out of 100 seats in the National Assembly, reports VOA's Edward Rwema.
The win sets the stage for the presidential election scheduled for July 15.
President Pierre Nkurunziza is running for a controversial third term in defiance of critics who say he is violating constitutional term limits.
His decision to run set off violent street protests that left dozens of people dead and prompted more than 100,000 Burundians to flee the country.
