Brussels Remains on Highest Terror Alert

The residents of Belgium's capital city woke up Sunday to a second day of a lockdown on its subway system and deserted streets patrolled by security forces. Sunday is also the second day for the highest threat level to be issued for Brussels.

Tourist sights are quiet Sunday morning, but a government review of the security situation may relax tensions in the afternoon. Reports say there have been many threats of attacks in Europe.

Soldiers and police are out in force in Brussels, as authorities search for men suspected of plotting attacks on the European Union.

Metros and other places like sports arenas, shopping centers and cinemas are closed on Sunday, as Brussels remains on high alert throughout the day.

Despite terrorist fears some tourists enjoy Brussels' spectacular buildings. The heavy security presence gets as much attention from tourists as the sights.
