Iraqi police say at least five people were killed in a series of bombings Sunday in western Iraq, near the border with Syria.
Investigators say the blasts in the city of Qaim wounded at least 15 people.
Police say at least one bomb exploded near a home being built by a prominent Sunni militia leader who supported the secular Iraqiya coalition of former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi in the March 7 parliamentary elections.
Several other bombs went off nearby after a crowd had gathered.
On Friday, election officials announced that Mr. Allawi's coalition won the most seats in the elections. Iraqiya edged past Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his Shi'ite-led State of Law coalition by two seats. Mr. Maliki has rejected the results.
Qaim is in Anbar province, where violence has been relatively low since Sunni tribal leaders turned against Islamist groups in 2006 and helped U.S. and Iraqi forces fight insurgents.
In a separate incident Sunday, police say a roadside bomb exploded near an Iraqi military patrol in Baghdad, killing one soldier and injuring five others.
