A suicide bomber has attacked a military base in eastern Iraq, killing at least nine Iraqi soldiers and wounding 14 others.
Officials said the bomber drove a truck laden with explosives past a checkpoint at the base in Diyala province Monday, setting off the blast outside an army building.
The explosion damaged several buildings at the base, which is located in the town of Kanaan about 70 kilometers northeast of the capital, Baghdad.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for Monday's attack.
Groups affiliated with al-Qaida have been blamed for previous attacks in the province.
