Two car bombs targeting busy commercial areas in Baghdad killed at least 12 people in the Iraqi capital Monday.
At least 29 people were injured by the blasts, one that was detonated in the Meshtal neighborhood and the other in the Amiriya district.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the explosions, but Islamic State militants say they have carried out numerous other bombings in recent weeks, including one Sunday at a checkpoint outside the Baghdad airport.
Bombing attacks occur almost daily in Baghdad, often in Shi'ite neighborhoods.
