Attacks across Iraq have killed at least four people, including the leaders of an anti al-Qaida militia.
Officials say Awakening Council Commander Raad al-Mujamai was killed Tuesday by a bomb attached to his vehicle in the Diyala province city of Buhriz.
A separate vehicle bombing there killed another leader of the Awakening Council, a government-backed Sunni militia that helped U.S. and Iraqi forces fight al-Qaida in 2006 and 2007.
Authorities also say a roadside bomb in Baghdad's southern Dora neighborhood targeted the convoy of a senior transportation official Tuesday morning.
The attack killed at least two people and wounded seven others, but the ministry official was unharmed.
Dora is a mainly Sunni neighborhood that had been a stronghold for insurgents.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Also in Baghdad, a roadside bomb wounded at least eight people when it exploded near a group from a Shi'ite religious party.
And in a separate attack in Diyala's provincial capital, Baquba, a motorcycle bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol and wounded eight civilians.
Iraq has been hit by a wave of violence since the nation's parliamentary elections in March failed to yield a clear winner. Bomb attacks in recent days have killed more than 30 people.
Some officials fear insurgents may be taking advantage of the country's political deadlock to try to derail recent security gains.
