Fear, Uncertainty As China Stock Slide Deepens
Stock prices in China closed down again on Wednesday, for their fifth consecutive session, despite fresh measures by the government to boost the index and broader economy. The Shanghai Composite index closed down 1.3 percent after a turbulent ride, rising and falling more than three percent. On the street, comments about the market’s movement and concerns about China’s slowing economy were about as varied as the volatile trading band. VOA’s Bill Ide has more from Beijing.
