Turkish officials say 15 people have been wounded in a bomb attack on a police vehicle in Istanbul.
Turkey's state-run Anatolia news agency said the bomb went off Tuesday as the vehicle was traveling in the Kucukcekmece district, on the outskirts of the city.
Istanbul's police chief, Huseyin Capkin, told the news agency that police are investigating whether the bomb was exploded by remote control. The injured include both police officers and passersby. None of the injuries were reported to be serious.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but Kurdish rebels have carried out similar attacks on police in the past.
The explosion comes just one day after reports that Turkey's air force bombed several rebel targets in the autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
Turkish news channel NTV reported Monday that fighter planes targeted positions of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, in the Sidekan area. The PKK is fighting for Kurdish autonomy in southeastern Turkey.
On Saturday and Sunday, Turkish officials said security forces killed three rebels in southeastern Sirnak province.
The PKK announced Friday it was ending its year-long cease-fire with Turkey. A spokesman for the group said the move is in response to repeated military attacks by Turkey.
Turkey has been battling the PKK since 1984. Ankara and much of the international community, including the United States and the European Union, consider the PKK a terrorist group.
