Leaders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas say five children and three women were among 13 injured after a blast at a Hamas base in the Gaza Strip.
The powerful explosion Wednesday ripped through the Hamas al-Qassam Brigades military training facility in the southern Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Hamas did not give a cause for the blast. The Israeli military says it was not involved.
The blast shook through the densely crowded Tel As-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah. Hamas said the injured were hit by flying glass shrapnel.
The Gaza-based Palestinian Center for Human Rights has repeatedly called on the territory's Hamas rulers not to store explosive materials in civilian areas. A weapons explosion in August wounded 58 people and destroyed seven houses.
