French writer Tristane Banon will file charges of attempted rape against the former head of the IMF Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who is already facing charges of sexual assault in New York.
Banon's lawyer David Koubbi said he would formally file the complaint in Paris on Tuesday.
Strauss-Kahn was released from house arrest last week, but must still answer to charges by a New York hotel maid who in May accused him of sexual assault.
Strauss-Kahn has denied wrongdoing, but he resigned from his post as chief of the International Monetary Fund.
The New York case appeared close to unraveling as doubts emerged on the credibility of his accuser.
Banon first spoke about the attempted rape in 2007, but did not press charges after her mother said it would damage her career.
The writer changed her mind after the New York case became public.
According to Banon, she went to the apartment of Strauss-Kahn for an interview in 2003 when he tried to rape her.
Strauss-Kahn was once considered the Socialist party front runner against President Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2012 French presidential elections.
