British Prime Minister David Cameron and Poland's leaders say there is goodwill but no compromise yet between their two nations over Britain's attempts to reform welfare rules that could affect Polish migrant workers in the U.K.
Cameron met in Warsaw Thursday with Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, whose conservative government was sworn in last month, and President Andrzej Duda.
Ahead of Cameron's arrival, Szydlo warned that Cameron's plans to cuts welfare benefits to migrant workers, part of a larger plan to reform his nation's relationship with the EU, was “unacceptable.” But at a news conference Thursday the tone between the two was conciliatory.
Cameron said no agreement has been reached yet but that “there is goodwill” and the two nations will continue to seek compromise on the matter.
