Al-Qaida has claimed responsibility for coordinated attacks in Iraq this week that freed hundreds of prisoners from two sites on the outskirts of Baghdad.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant said in a statement on jihadist forums Tuesday it carried out the attacks on the high-security prisons of Abu Ghraib and Taji, freeing more than 500 militants.
