Officials in Afghanistan say a suicide bomber struck on a road near Kabul's airport Monday, killing at least one civilian and wounding 13 others.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bombing, which damaged nearby buildings.
NATO’s Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan condemned the attack.
“A Taliban group has once again targeted defenseless Afghan civilians, showing their complete disregard for the Afghan people,” said Brig. Gen. Wilson Shoffner, Resolute Support Spokesperson. “On behalf of General Campbell, our thoughts are with the victims of this attack and the families and friends of those killed.”
Police say the obvious target was a truck similar to those used by security contractors.
The attack comes one day after Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif visited Kabul to prepare for a fresh round of peace talks with the Taliban.
