Twin Suicide Attacks Kill 12 in Afghanistan

Ghazni, Afghanistan
Ghazni, Afghanistan
Two suicide bombers, including one driving a truck, killed 12 people and wounded more than 50 others Saturday near a NATO base in eastern Afghanistan.

Both civilians and Afghan police were the victims of the attacks in the Sayed Abad district of Wardak province.

President Hamid Karzai condemned the suicide attacks, which the Taliban says it carried out. Mr. Karzai said targeting civilians in public areas demonstrates an "utter hostility to Islam."

No international coalition service members were among the casualties.

In a separate incident, NATO says two U.S. service members died Saturday in an insurgent attack in Ghazni province in southern Afghanistan.
