A federal judge has denied bail to the man charged with killing a U.S. Transportation Security Administration officer in a shooting spree at Los Angeles International Airport last month.
Suspect Paul Ciancia was not asked to enter a plea during the hearing in California Wednesday. The judge said Ciancia is a danger to society and a flight risk.
The 23-year-old Los Angeles resident is accused of killing a TSA agent and wounding three other people when he opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle in an airport terminal on November 1.
Police wounded Ciancia in a shootout and took him into custody.
Authorities say he was carrying a note saying he wanted to "kill TSA."
The slain employee, Gerardo Hernandez, was the first TSA officer killed in the line of duty in the 12 year history of the agency, which was founded in the aftermath of 9/11.
