World number one men's tennis player Roger Federer will lead Switzerland against Australia while the United States hosts Romania in the 2006 Davis Cup world group competition next year.
The draw was held for the 16-team World Group Thursday with the first round scheduled for February 10 to 12. Federer will lead the Swiss team against Lleyton Hewitt and his Australian teammates.
Meanwhile, the United States hosts Romania. The Americans have a 5-0 record in Davis Cup play against the Central European nation, including a sweep in their last meeting in Bucharest in 1984.
In other matches, this year's finalists - Croatia and Slovakia - drew away matches next year. Croatia visits Austria while Slovakia plays on the road against Chile.
In other best of five match series, Argentina hosts Sweden, Spain plays Belarus, Germany hosts France, and Russia visits the Netherlands. The winners in February advance to the quarterfinals in April.
